In 2006 The Chimmney Pot acquired one of the worlds leading film restoration facilities, MARS MOTEL
Marsmotel is one of the first in Europe who started restoring film digitally in full 2K resolution. When this technology had started to develop in early 21st century it made it possible to handle complete films in digital, high definition. Mars Motel took, on behalf of Svensk Filmindustri, a couple of titles made by Ingmar Bergman and Astrid Lindgren.
Mars Motel are today working in 2K and 4K and scans with IR on the Arri Scanner. Masters to disc drives as well as HDSR 4:4:4
The end result of this was so astoningshly good that the clients have chosen Marsmotel for restoring 60 films since 2002, among them its 10 Ingmar Bergman movies, such as “ The seventh seal “, “Through a Glass Darkly Winter Light The Silence” and “Scenes from a marriage”, aswell as a great number of Astrid Lindgrens films as to mention a few; “ Pippi longstocking”, “Carlsson on the roof” and “Emil i lönnerberga.” Marsmotell have also restored Lasse Hallströms “The Children of Bullerbyn Village”, “My life as a Dog”, and Colin Nutley´s “Änglagård”, “Black Jack” and “Änglagård, second summer”.
