LABORATORIUM RESTORATION

If necessary we use the Swedish Film institutes archive laboratory for analogue preparation of old negatives. They have many unique methods for caretaking of negatives and master positives, i.e the FICA method for long term storage of film material,

Gelflex treatment

It protects prints against static charge and mechanical influence. It is a special purpose film protection solution ideally suited for application where static is a problem. Special additives neutralize the charges found on film. Gelflex is not suitable for reprint system cleaning. The treated films can be cleaned in most automatic film cleaning machines. Gelflex is safe for cleaning color negatives, color reversal film, silver microfilm, x-ray film and litho film

Filmcleaning

They use the safest and most efficient way to clean original negative and print material. Physical contact is minimized by immersing the film in a bath of solvent and ultrasonically removing dirt and other contamination commonly found in a telecine environment. ultrasonic clearing means ultrasonic penetration followed by filtered solvent rinse and high pressure, non-evaporative drying.
They also use watercleaning machines swelling the emulosion for scratched film.

Buffing

optionally engaged submerged rotary buffing system provides extra scrubbing action.

Redimension Film Treatment

It restores shrunken film to its former dimension.
It is a chemical treatment process designed and patented by Restoration Film House Inc of Canada in the 1960's.

Redimension Process is based on various solvents and acetone or camphor and a plasticizer to temporarily treat shrunken films and render it printable again. We use a vacuum chamber to replace the loss of a film´s water content with a “less volatile agent” which is another mixture of acetone, water and oils.
